THE LOWQTA BUYING GUIDE

Choosing a sofa: measure first, compare second

A practical sofa checklist for room size, delivery access, upholstery, everyday comfort and the full cost.

The right sofa has to fit your room, your route through the building and the way you use it. Decide those limits before sorting by price. An attractive saving is less useful if you need to replace the sofa or pay for an awkward delivery.

Keep this rule in mindCompare the same product and the amount you will actually pay. The discount percentage is part of the picture, not the whole picture.

01

Measure the room and the journey

Write down the available width and depth, then mark the footprint on the floor with removable tape. Leave comfortable space for doors, drawers and walking routes. Measure the entrance, stair turns and lift too. Compare those measurements with the retailer’s packaged dimensions, not just the assembled sofa. Check whether the legs detach and who is responsible if delivery access fails.

02

Choose the layout you will actually use

A two-seater can leave more usable space than a larger sofa that blocks circulation. For a chaise or corner unit, confirm which side extends when viewed from the front. If it converts to a bed, measure it fully open and check the stated sleeping surface. A modular photograph may show extra sections that are sold separately.

03

Compare comfort and care

Seat depth, seat height and back support matter more than the number of seats in the title. Try the sofa in person if possible. Ask what the frame and cushions are made from and whether cushion covers can be removed. Read the care label: removable does not necessarily mean machine-washable. Homes with children or pets may benefit from replaceable covers, but check the price and availability of the replacements.

04

Make the price comparison complete

Compare the same size, fabric, colour and included sections. Add delivery, assembly and any essential extras. Lowqta’s price history covers the product observations available to us; a separate delivery charge will not appear as part of that product’s history. Read the retailer’s return and warranty terms before ordering a bulky item.

05

Keep a short checklist

Bring your room and access measurements, required seat count, preferred layout and all-in budget to the comparison. Record the exact model and variant. At delivery, inspect the packaging and product, and follow the retailer’s process for reporting damage promptly.
