How to judge a real discount in Egypt
Compare the final price, the exact product and the evidence behind the saving before you buy.
A large discount percentage is a reason to look closer, not a reason to rush. The useful question is whether this exact product costs less than a sensible alternative today. A crossed-out number on its own cannot answer that.
Keep this rule in mindCompare the same product and the amount you will actually pay. The discount percentage is part of the picture, not the whole picture.
Start with the exact product
Match the model number, size, colour, capacity and what comes in the box. A sofa cover and a complete sofa are different purchases. A phone with a different storage capacity, warranty or seller is not a like-for-like comparison. Save the product link so you can check the same variant at checkout.
Read the comparison behind the saving
Lowqta distinguishes a retailer-reported comparison from the typical price we recorded. The recorded comparison is the lower median of accepted daily observations from the preceding 30 days, excluding today, and needs at least three prior dates. Gaps remain gaps: this is a record of our observations, not continuous monitoring. With prices of 800, 900, 1,000 and 1,100 EGP, the lower median is 900 EGP. A current price of 750 EGP would therefore save 150 EGP against that recorded reference.
Check the amount you actually save
A 50% cut from 100 to 50 EGP saves 50 EGP; a 15% cut from 10,000 to 8,500 EGP saves 1,500 EGP. Neither is automatically the better purchase. Compare the final total including delivery, assembly, required accessories and any payment charges. A product you do not need is still an expense at half price.
Use the timestamp and check the retailer
Open the price history and read when the price was last accepted. An old price is labelled as last recorded, and an unavailable product is not a live offer. On marketplaces, check the individual seller, fulfilment, warranty and return terms. Lowqta suppresses extreme unsupported marketplace reference claims; that check is not a guarantee of authenticity or the lowest price in Egypt.
Before you pay
Confirm stock, the selected variant, the payable total and the return deadline on the retailer’s checkout. Keep the receipt and the offer terms. If Lowqta and the retailer disagree, the retailer’s current checkout controls the transaction.
